나뭇가지에 가시를 가졌는데

가시의 결을 따라

사람의 손이 가는 쪽으로

몸을 낮추는 게 분명하여 흥분했는데

 

길들여진다는 건 얼마나 긴 세월일까

바람 부는 방향으로 늘어져 흔들리다

땅 냄새 맡으면 그 자리에 뿌리내리고

잎 쓰다듬듯 퍼 가면 다시 새잎 틔우고

 

길들여진다는 게 살아가는 것이라고

엄지와 검지 사이에

잔뜩 푸른 엽록소의 즙액이

유전자 지문 사이를 메운다

온몸이 바람 부는 대로 휘청거린다

 

송송 뚫린 세포에서 비릿한 풀내가 진동한다

Having thorns on its branches
Along the grain of the thorns
Towards where human hands reach
I was excited to see it clearly lowering itself

How long must it take to be tamed
Swaying as it stretches in the direction of the wind
When it smells the earth, it takes root in that spot
When leaves are stroked and taken, new leaves sprout again

Being tamed is what it means to live
Between thumb and index finger
The heavily green chlorophyll sap
Fills between genetic fingerprints
The whole body sways with the wind

A fishy grass smell vibrates from the perforated cells

시작 메모

구기자나무 가시에 손끝이 스친다. 날카로운 가시는 사람의 손길을 거부하지 않는다. 오히려 사람의 손이 가는 방향으로 순응하듯 몸을 낮추는 모습이 경이롭다. 자연과 인간의 오랜 공존의 흔적이 여기에 있다.

바람 불 때마다 구기자나무 가지가 춤을 춘다. 흔들리는 잎사귀 사이로 비치는 햇살이 초록빛으로 반짝인다. 사람의 손길로 잎이 떨어져도, 다시 새잎을 틔우는 생명력이 경이롭다. 길들여진다는 것은 서로를 이해하고 받아들이는 긴 시간의 여정이다.

엄지와 검지로 잎을 비벼본다. 손가락 사이로 스며드는 푸른 즙액이 마치 유전자의 각인처럼 남는다. 바람에 휘청거리는 나무처럼 나도 흔들린다. 구기자나무의 비릿한 향이 코끝을 스친다. 자연과 인간의 공진화가 만들어낸 깊은 교감을 배운다.

My fingertips brush against the thorns of the lycium tree. The sharp thorns do not reject human touch. Rather, it's remarkable how they seem to lower themselves in compliance with the direction of human hands. Here lies the trace of long coexistence between nature and humans.

The lycium tree branches dance whenever the wind blows. The sunlight shining through the swaying leaves sparkles in green. Even when leaves fall from human touch, their vitality to sprout new leaves is remarkable. Being tamed is a long journey of understanding and accepting each other.

I rub the leaves between my thumb and index finger. The green sap that seeps through my fingers remains like a genetic imprint. I sway like the tree swaying in the wind. The fishy scent of the lycium tree brushes my nose. I learn the deep connection created by the coevolution of nature and humans.
