겨울산

   밤을 맞이하는 겨울산은

   덧술에 고두밥 넣어 휘저을 때

   손등에 닿치는 따가운 기운처럼 우람하다.

   회오리로 때리는 차가운 타격으로 오지다.

​

   골격이 다부지고 드러난 살결은

   백옥같이 희고 달빛처럼 차다.

   나 하나 에워싸는 불빛으로

   겨울산 밤길을 가늠하기에는

   알 수 없는 게 너무 많은 노릇이나

​

   흔들리는 나뭇가지처럼

   터덜터덜 푸념으로 걷고 왔음이다.

   외원재를 오르다 평지에 이르면

   협착이 어지럽게 춤추며 앞을 가린다.

​

   대설 앞둔 겨울산아

   푸르고 좁던 길,

   어느새 활짝 벌려 환해졌으니

   홀로 걷기에 민망하여

   자꾸 되돌아보는 겨울산아

   너만 거기 혼자 남겨졌겠니?

Winter Mountain

   The winter mountain greeting the night is
   When stirring the malted rice with steamed rice
   It is as robust as the sharp sensation touching the back of the hand.
   It is solid with the cold impact striking like a whirlwind.
​
   The revealed skin with firm structure is
   As white as jade and as cold as moonlight.
   With the light surrounding only me
   To gauge the winter mountain's night path
   There are too many unknowns.
​
   Like a swaying tree branch
   I walked with a trudging complaint.
   Climbing Oewonjae and reaching the flatland
   The stenosis dances chaotically, blocking the way ahead.
​
   Winter mountain before heavy snow
   The once narrow and green path,
   Has suddenly opened wide and brightened.
   Embarrassed to walk alone
   I keep looking back, winter mountain.
   Do you think you're the only one left there alone?

시작 메모

겨울산이 밤을 맞이한다. 차가운 공기가 온몸을 감싼다. 바람이 불어오고 나뭇가지가 흔들린다. 겨울은 고독하다. 덧술에 고두밥을 넣고 휘저을 때 손등에 닿는 따가운 기운처럼 겨울산은 묵직하다. 회오리처럼 휘몰아치는 차가운 바람이 피부를 스친다. 

골격이 다부진 겨울산은 백옥같이 희고 달빛처럼 차가운 살결이다. 신비롭고 경외롭다. 나를 에워싸는 불빛으로 겨울산의 안부를 가늠한다. 알 수 없는 것 투성이다. 불빛은 작은 점으로 산재한다. 겨울산의 광활함 앞에서 무력하다.
겨울의 푸념처럼 나뭇가지 흔들린다. 터덜터덜 걸어가며 듣는다. 발걸음이 무겁다. 외원재를 오르다 평지에 이르면, 협착이 어지럽게 춤춘다. 길을 막어서며 방해한다. 겨울산의 고요함 속에서 쪼그려 앉는다.

대설이 다가오는 겨울산이다. 푸르고 좁던 길은 활짝 열려 환해졌다. 계절의 변화는 늘 새롭다. 열려 있는 숲을 홀로 걷기에 민망하다. 인기척에 자꾸 되돌아본다. 겨울산은 고요할 뿐이다. 그래서 외로움을 탄다. 겨울산아, 너만 거기 혼자 남겨졌겠니. 마음속 울림으로 묻는다. 주변의 모든 것이 정지된 듯하다. 고독하여 아름답다. 아름다움은 공존이다.

Creative Notes

The winter mountain greets the night. The cold air envelops the whole body. The wind blows, and the branches sway. Winter is lonely. Like the sharp sensation on the back of the hand when stirring steamed rice into fermented liquor, the winter mountain feels heavy. The icy wind swirling like a tornado brushes against the skin.

The robustly built winter mountain has a white, jade-like, moonlit cold complexion. It is mysterious and awe-inspiring. I gauge the winter mountain's condition through the surrounding lights. Everything is full of unknowns. The lights scatter as small dots. In the vastness of the winter mountain, I feel powerless. Like winter's lament, the branches sway. I listen as I trudge along. My steps feel heavy. Climbing Oewonjae and reaching the flat ground, the stenosis dances chaotically. It obstructs and hinders the path. I crouch down amidst the stillness of the winter mountain.

The winter mountain anticipates heavy snow. The once narrow and green path has opened wide and brightened. The change of seasons is always new. Walking alone in the open forest feels awkward. I keep looking back at the sound of movement. The winter mountain remains silent. That’s why it feels lonely. Winter mountain, do you think you're the only one left alone there? I ask with a resonating heart. Everything around seems to have stopped. It is lonely yet beautiful. Beauty is coexistence.
