울고 불고 뚝뚝 정감 그득했더랬는데 그예 퇴임, 환한 아이들의 왁자함과도 다시 작별

​

자주 주겠다던 연락은

서로 약속이나 한 듯 한꺼번에 불통,

전화 커녕

흔한 카톡 하나도 절약하여 아낀다.

​

그러니 잊지 않고 곧잘 찾아오는 현구는 대체 어떤 생각일까. 규경이도 그렇고

​

자기 살아내기에 분주하여

새해 첫 월요일처럼 매일 설렐테지

이른 새벽에 깨어 파랑새를 찾아 나설텐데

​

세월이라는 역병으로 기억은 조작되어

새해 인사도 나눌 수 없구나

내일이 소한이다.

바짝 여미고들 다니거라

시작 메모

퇴임이 어제처럼 생생하다. 늘 왁자지껄한 숲과의 작별이었다. 새해가 되면 원림을 거닐며 옛 기억을 더듬는다. 한결같았던 약속들은 끊어진지 오래다. 허전함이 스민다. 그러나 현구와 규경이는 여전하다. 미소가 번진다.

한겨울 새벽을 걷는다. 모두가 각자의 삶에 바쁘겠다. 그래서 가끔 안부가 궁금해다. 세월이라는 역병이 기억을 지운다. 아리다. 소한 앞둔 겨울날, 옷깃을 여미며 그들의 안녕을 기원한다.

교실의 왁자함이 멀어진다. 퇴임의 순간이 떠오른다. 끊어진 연락의 실타래를 더듬는다. 옛 제자들의 얼굴을 떠올린다. 시간은 흘러가도 마음은 여전하다.

Retirement feels as vivid as yesterday. It was a farewell to the always lively forest. At the start of the new year, I stroll through the garden, reminiscing old memories. The once steadfast promises have long been broken. A sense of emptiness seeps in. However, Hyungu and Kyugyeong remain the same. A smile spreads.

I walk through the early winter dawn. Everyone must be busy with their own lives. That’s why I sometimes wonder about their well-being. The plague of time erases memories. It aches. On a winter day before Sohan, I tighten my collar and wish for their peace.

The liveliness of the classroom fades away. The moment of retirement comes to mind. I trace the broken threads of contact. I recall the faces of old students. Though time flows, the heart remains unchanged.
